Dr. Ain is Director of the Thyroid Oncology Program and Professor of Medicine at the University of Kentucky. He directed an NIH and VA-funded basic and translational research laboratory that investigated the molecular and cellular biology of thyroid carcinoma from 1991 until it closed in 2018. Dr. Ain directs a large thyroid oncology practice in the Markey Cancer Center of the University of Kentucky, drawing patients internationally, and an active clinical research program. His research interests include: epigenetics, regulation of sodium/iodide symporter, tumor angiogenesis, tumor immunology, and therapeutics involving these mechanisms for translational application. He is active in issues of research ethics, cell line integrity, and clinical thyroid oncology ethics.
